1 As a boy 8 years old he delivered groceries for his father's grocery store. He attended Georgia Tech and University of Georgia. At Georgia he studied Civil Engineering for two years. When the Great Depression came to Georgia and the nation he found work with Charles Stores Inc. in Wilson, NC. Returning to Lyons within a year he bought and operated a Gulf service station. He then began to work with his father in who owned Brown Chevrolet Co. He and his brother Jack bought Brown Chevrolet Co. from their father in 1940. They sold the business in 1957 to Bill Durden. In 1960 started Brown Parts and Supply Co. in Lyons, GA. Retired in 1982.

Served in World Wat II with the Army Air Force in the Pacific. Flew the "Hump" into China before the war ended.
